Me, Myself and I

As part of the show Self ’03, the artist reflected on her concepts as a young child, when one of her favourite sayings was “Me, myself and I”. “Who’s going?” “Me, myself and I!” When taking a vote with her two siblings, she would always win because “there’s Me, Myself and I!”

Me is constructed of a rectangular box with the intelligent, tricky raven, the creatively charged hummingbird and the intuitive moon carved on either side.  The geometric pattern on the top and bottom of the box consists of horizontal lines that would direct light into the case and allow it to escape from below. The masquerade masks are adorned with simple Northwest Coast silver formlines. The masks contain a fictionally historic story written on the back of the faces, visible in the mirror but challenging to view and interpret.
